Childhood Home of President Lorenzo Snow and His Sister, Eliza R. Snow: Mantua, Ohio

Two individuals, who would later become important and influential leaders in the Church, spent their formative years in this home.

Abstract

Privately owned, the Oliver and Rosetta Snow Home was the childhood home for the Snow children, including Eliza R. and Lorenzo. The Snows moved to the area in 1805, and built the house around 1815. It was here that Joseph visited in the winter of 1830-1831, and Eliza “scrutinized his face” and decided that it was an honest one. Eliza, one of Ohio’s first poetesses, wrote much of her poetry here and lived with her parents here until moving to Kirtland to join the Saints.
